March meeting: TOURMALINES

Tourmaline is one of the most beautiful and varied minerals.  Dave will discuss tourmaline from a collector’s point of view.  After briefly covering tourmaline chemistry and crystallography, he will cover the types of tourmaline, terminology as it is currently used, and then go into detail about each variety of tourmaline, their occurrences, and show many tourmaline photographs.  Tourmaline fakes and pseudomorphs will be briefly reviewed.
